CAR QUESTIONS TAKEN FROM
OUR WEEKLY TALK RADIO SHOW
Dear Motor Medics,
This is not you normal repair question but rather a general question about driving. Our daughter was driving our 2008 Ford Fusion while her car was in the shop because she hit our mailbox and damaged the outside mirror and door. While she was driving the Fusion she hit something else, a turkey. Yes a turkey. The front fog lamp was broken but other than that we can’t see any other damage. We can smell antifreeze at times but none seems to be leaking on the ground. What should we do? Can we just leave it until it starts leaking or something breaks? Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

We had this type of call on our radio show and it turned into something that got people talking about what kind of things they had hit on the road. We posed the question on our facebook page www.facebook.com/underthehoodshow and got some funny responses. One person said they saw an ostrich on the side of the road. That one takes the cake! Whenever you run into something on the road it is best to get an inspection of the underside of the car to see what is going on. Chances are everything is ok but if you smell coolant you should check it out right away to avoid expensive damage from coolant loss. It could be just a leaking coolant hose so don’t worry yet.
Take care, the Motor Medics
